Psychedelic Resources
Websites
- MAPS
This is the first place I send everybody. Founded in 1986, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies is a non-profit research and educational organization developing medical, legal, and cultural contexts for the careful use of psychedelics and marijuana.
- MAPS Psychedelic Integration List
A list of people who can help you integrate your lessons or experiences.
- Erowid
Great overall source of reliable, non-judgmental information about psychoactive plants, chemicals, and related issues.
- Zendo Project
THE resource for harm reduction. Spend some time on this site.
- DanceSafe
Always…ALWAYS…test your substances. DanceSafe keeps people safe at festivals and raves. Use their test kits.
- KetamineHelps.com
My wife's site. A great resource for information on ketamine.
- Psychedelic Seminars
Live and archived video discussions on all topics related to psychedelics.
- Third Wave
Resources for safe, structured, and responsible psychedelic use.
Books
These are books I have read, or at least read through.
- The Grief Trip by Stuart Preston
My book. All proceeds go to the Ian Preston Memorial Fund.
- The Microdosing Guidebook by C.J. Spotswood
The “ultimate reference for safely using psychedelic medicine.”
- The Psychedelic Explorer's Guide by James Fadiman
THE resource for understanding your journey, how to experience it, and how to integrate it.
- LSD: Doorway to the Numinous by Stanislav Grof
Grof is one of the pioneers in psychedelic (and holotropic) experiences.
- The Harvard Psychedelic Club by Don Lattin
I picked this one up during my stay at The Peyote Way Church. A great overview of how things went bad in the 60s and 70s, with good biographical info on Leary, Ram Dass, Huston Smith, and Andrew Weil.
- LSD and the Mind of the Universe by Christopher Bache
Some amazing and horrific (don't try this at home) high-dose LSD journeys, with great insight into LSD and consciousness.
- Be Here Now by Ram Dass
Not specifically about psychedelics, but LSD and mushrooms were central to Richard Alpert's journey to becoming Ram Dass.
- How to Change Your Mind by Michael Pollan
I didn't love this book, but everybody else does, so here it is.
- The Wild Kindness: A Psilocybin Odyssey by Bett Williams
I love Bett Williams and I loved this book. It reads like a great novel. I also interviewed her on my podcast.
- Your Psilocybin Mushroom Companion by Michelle Janikian
My first journey was with mushrooms. If you're thinking that way, get this book. Michelle was also on the podcast.
Podcasts
- Psychedelics Today
Pretty much THE podcast on psychedelics. I've had both Kyle and Joe on my podcasts.
- TripSafe
Really good info on what trips are like and the dangers of each psychedelic. Whatever you're considering, check here first.
